A Real Day in the Life of a Female Marketer
Oct 06, 2026
Choosing the Marketing Path
She did not always know that she would end up as a Female Marketer.
In fact, she went into college to study nursing. After her freshman year she decided to change paths and landed on Public Relations.
What made her set on Public Relations? Big dreams, confidence, the sky is the limit, you name it. Her goal was to become a celebrities publicist.
As social media kept progressing, so did this Female Marketer at hearts goals. As she fell victim to more and more Influencer Marketing tactics, her answer became pretty clear.
She wanted to work as a Female Marketer. If the fact that Marketing is a women dominated field did not solidify her decision, I do not know what would. You can not say that about many industries, so this felt right to her.
Job Searching in Marketing
Finding a job as a Female Marketer did not come easy to her, it still has not. She got what she thought was a marketing job out of college, boy was she wrong. The job ended up consisting of one hundred cold calls a day. She lasted six weeks.
Then she had the thought "What would a Female Marketer do." So she started her own little business, made a website, Instagram, business cards and all. She got more education in the field and another unpaid internship... yes, another one. Sometimes that is the price you have to pay for a dream job.
Do not get it twisted, her only able to land an unpaid internship with a four year college degree and a year of previous unpaid internship experience is incredibly frustrating. Email after email of "Unfortunately," "After careful consideration," etc. Although that has not stopped her, neither has the reputation marketing girls get.
Your approach while searching for a job in marketing is very important as well. She has learned not just to spam apply on LinkedIn, but actually to do the research on the company and see if it is a good fit. Job boards are her new go to when applying for jobs as well.
Resume and portfolio building is a whole other hurdle to jump. One might find themselves asking, "Do they want to see high school job experience on a resume?" "Is the professional summary too long, do they even care about that part?" "Does GPA under education matter?" "Are there enough buzz words?" "Is a human even looking at this, or is it getting scanned by AI?" "What is the happy medium between professional and staying true to oneself?"
The list of questions could go on forever, but at the end of the day there is no right answer. "Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
Marketing Girls Reputation

One thing about a Female Marketer is that they are immediately put into a box by society. A lot of people may think that the only thing they do is post on social media. It is hard to hear from loved ones that marketing is just another word for sales or to switch career paths because marketing is not getting people jobs.
They are so much more than that. They drive engagement and can make or break a business/company. This is a lot of marketers creative outlet, including hers.
Marketing may look like fun and games, which it is, but it also takes hard work, dedication and commitment! Do not mistake it as the easy way out.
Marketing Girls Survival Guide

Staying up to date on trends is so important in present day marketing. Trends are constantly changing so it is vital to stay on top of them. Using software and apps such as Canva, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. can keep you fresh in the game.
AI is a huge conversation in marketing today as well. It may seem daunting and scary, which it is, but at the end of the day nothing AI spits out will be as authentic as something a human creates. It can get discouraging at times, but marketers do not quit!
Marketing allows one to combine their interests. For example, if someone love the legal system but does not want to be a lawyer, they could do the marketing for a law firm.
The Endless Paths of Marketing
There is a spot for everyone in the marketing industry. Whether you are more on the analytical side of the spectrum, wanting to do data and research marketing or if you are on the more creative side of marketing including writing and digital strategy.
Lets dive into the creative side of marketing, the avenue that the girl in the beginning of the blog prefers. Creative marketing can split off into many different branches on its own. Content and Social Media, her least favorite side of creative marketing. She is not great at creating graphics or reels, and frankly does not enjoy it.
Public Relations, arguably her favorite, I mean it was her major in college at the end of the day. The publics perception of a brand is a huge tell on if a brand will end up successful. Events ties into this section of creative marketing that she loves as well. Putting on live experiences, that may include influencers, is so rewarding to see a brands work appreciated, celebrated and displayed in person!
Personality plays a big role in which sector of marketing a person is going to flourish in. This girl is big into community, human interaction, conversation, communication, etc. So it only makes sense as to why she would excel in public relations and events.
Now if you are more into the crunching numbers side of things, that is awesome as well. Yes... marketers crunch numbers too. Whether you are seeing how many clicks your newsletter got on email versus LinkedIn or the cost of what you spent to market versus what you made back on return. This is a very crucial practice in marketing your company well.
