AI could never: The Rise of Authentic In-Person Events.
Jul 24, 2026
AI is everywhere.
Our phones have fully and unfortunately become an extension of our brains and bodies. And it only continues to grow. The amount of tech integrations in our lives is changing everything about the way that we interact with one another, and because of these factors, people are craving human connection more than ever.
That's the gap AI could never close, and it’s exactly why the in-person event is having a cultural comeback.
We can all agree that AI can create the most complex images and responses if we ask it to. The possibilities are endless, and it's come down to simply not putting our own brain power to use if it's not required or necessary given the circumstance.
But one thing about AI that society has been talking about recently is that it could never fulfill the purpose of an environment we can only hope to experience. That's the thing: AI can relieve or save us temporarily, but unforgettable moments at an in-person event foster meaningful connections that are hard to miss.
AI is strong in technical skill but lacks the genuine humanization behind real relationship building and social interaction.
The Numbers Don't Lie
With the amount of AI usage becoming a convenient and frequently relied-on tool, comparison and the fear of missing out have become a direct link to social anxiety within our society today and should spark genuine concern.
Studies show that 87.1% of AI users have turned to it daily as their primary source of emotional support to avoid human judgement. The words primary source in and of itself tell us that everyday people are lacking the social interaction more than anticipated. That's more than half of the U.S. population...
People aren't craving another app to tell them how to have a conversation with a stranger or how to send a risky text they don't have the bandwidth to muster up. They're craving a real and physical in-person event and environment where their voice and presence actually matters to others.
This generation craves a sense of belonging, and that almost always involves the company of others. Ironically speaking, it's obvious with the amount of AI usage, humans are simply searching for answers.
We were never meant to spend our lives hiding behind a screen searching for all the answers. Computerized at that. Life is all about experience. The best answers are from interacting with others and gaining fresh perspectives that others have experienced or simply lived through.
Casa Amor Couldn't Even Keep Us Apart: The Love Island Watch Party FOMO
If you needed proof that people are starving for shared experience, look no further than your local dive bars reaching over full capacity to watch a reality dating show. It is surrounded by strangers who are equally as parasocial about every couple's rise and fallout seen on the big screen. If you think about it, it's never been about the show, but truly about the gathering and the environment that it creates naturally.
It's a well-hosted in-person event that beats a solo living room stream every single time! The proof is in all social media platforms showing just what the impact has made culturally. Viral trends using audio from the show itself, and brands appearing as memes to keep their audience engagement up as a marketing strategy.
Houston, We Have a Futbol Fever
With Houston hosting one of the biggest events in the world, the city has become a living case study or proof as to what happens when people from all over the world join together for something bigger than themselves. The 2026 FIFA World Cup has fans rolling through to join in on free and massive watch parties, rooftop viewings, and giant lawn screens.
It's happening from cities like Houston to cities all across North America. There has been a significant amount of community showing up, being present, staying loud, at a real and successful in person event like the World Cup.
Fans have definitely proven that a shared reaction over a last minute goal cannot be replicated by any AI converted crowd images and videos.
The unity increase within the community that has been built has come from small moments of fans with different cultural background and political views learning American traditions. Like having an unlimited amount of refills for their drinks, or simply getting the option of chips and salsa before your meal. You cannot fake these in-person connections.
No Feed or Prompt Could Ever Feel Like a Room.
AI can tell you exactly what to wear. It can even build out the perfect energy-boosting playlist before you walk into a room. Surely, whatever you ask when in need of emotional support, it will do. But one thing AI will never measure up to is the feeling of a stranger's hand on your shoulder after a team score, or a friend laughing at your joke before you even finish saying it.
Connection is more than communicating and the feedback you get in response to what you put out or ask for. Connection is the very thing AI longs for. That's its purpose. To serve you, constantly. But nothing will ever beat the lasting impact that an in-person event has on someone.
The Smartest Brands are Showing Up In Person, Not Just on Your Feed
Brands looking to advance in their marketing strategies are now considering the use of systems generated from AI advice to structure the best build-outs for a targeted audience experience. They base it on platform analytics, engagement, content reach, algorithm, and beyond.
But the brands that are winning are showing up in physical environments tailored to their audiences' needs, not just based on metrics, but on real-time functionality and emotion-driven results. Brands are making it a priority to generate a true humanized and relational experience for everyone.
While AI contains the event logistics necessary to take a step forward, the proper alignment with your audience should contain real-time emotions and conversations from an event.
The outcome of someone talking about the impact that was made in their life from a live event in being physically present, over allowing a platform to restrain them from having genuine human interaction by simply being tongue-tied in a response, is so much greater.

The best part is, the in-person event is made for anyone. What problem is a brand solving for you at this event that AI could never have the same impact of having on you as a face-to-face interaction can? This is where gathering feedback comes in and changes the name of the game. Post-event follow-up is key to knowing the impact that was had.
AI could never. It can never measure up to the feeling an environment has on you, the reason you show up, or the lasting connections you could build for a lifetime. With summer coming to a close and school time starting back up soon, go to a World Cup watch party, find a brand activation in your city, or host your very own event. An in-person event is always a good idea, and these are where memorable moments live.
